Why Choose Our Primary School in La Molina?

Students at our private primary school in La Molina benefit from an attractive and interactive learning environment that fosters motivation and active participation. Our competitive fees reflect the exceptional quality of the support we provide for students as they progress through the school, developing an understanding of learning processes and encouraging the growth of social, investigative, reflective, and creative skills that will have a positive impact on their educational experience.

Primary students are guided towards understanding via various methods and processes in each subject, especially Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). Children at this level develop social skills, research abilities, and learn to reflect while also exploring their creativity - all of which are factors that positively influence development.

Our Primary School Curriculum, PYP Frame

We provide our students with a bilingual curriculum that includes 80% of the classes in English and is based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). This programme is designed for children from 7 to 12 years of age and supports the development of the whole child, focusing on inquiry as the basis for learning and exploration of the world around them.

In addition to emphasising academic achievement, we also place importance on the acquisition of other life skills such as cultivating appropriate work routines, mastering tools to effectively handle and process new information, and facilitating the learning of increasingly complex concepts. Our daily schedule includes classes in Visual and Performing Arts, Physical Education (PE), Information Technology (IT), and Library sessions, all contributing to the holistic development of our students.

Cycle of Enquiry

In each unit of the IB PYP a ‘cycle of enquiry’ methodology is employed. Students are encouraged to ask questions to aid their understanding and guide further research. This process focuses on the development of critical thinking skills, as well as the acquisition of information and knowledge. This methodology promotes an active and participatory learning style, which encourages the autonomy of learners within a nurturing environment of mutual respect.

At the end of their Primary education, students present the ideas and principles they have learned in the PYP Exhibition. Project work is displayed, and parents and other students may see the result of their efforts.

Primary Years teachers plan lessons based on the learning objectives outlined in the PYP framework. Daily learning is delivered in manageable, varied and engaging tasks to ensure understanding across curriculum subjects. The school day is divided into classes and break times: each lesson covers a different topic. However, there is often an overlap of themes in the unit. Primary Years subjects include Visual, Performing & Musical Arts, Physical Education, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, Humanities, and Library sessions.

Our Primary School Library

Each week, the Library welcomes children from our Early Learning and Primary School. Library activities are scheduled into weekly timetables and encourage reading and research skills. Young readers may also use this time to select books to take home and continue reading with their families.

Languages at our Primary Stage

Our English-taught subjects provide a comprehensive approach to language learning that encompasses oral, visual and written skills. At the primary education stage, we focus on laying the foundations for confident and skilled language abilities, so that students are prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.

Our school is accredited by the University of Cambridge, which gives students the opportunity to take international exams at the same institution as they progress through secondary school. This allows them to obtain a prestigious international diploma, thus completing their education with recognised qualification.
